Black and Blue!
My senior year in college I had a Philosophy of Christian Education class. Towards the end of the semester in this class I had to write out what my Philosophy would be. The professor was strict with the deadline for turning in this paper, so I pulled what would be an all-nighter to get this paper done. Typing it up on my manual typewriter. Yes!! I am that old that I only had a manual typewriter. Mistakes were not easily corrected, so I was careful but still it took most of the night to type up this very long paper. I fell asleep at my desk and in the morning my roommate woke me up saying, “don’t you have to turn in your philosophy paper this morning?” I didn’t have much time to get to class in order to not be late turning it in. I started for the door and in my hurry I slammed the door shut on my finger. Ouch!
I didn’t take time to worry about my finger, my mind was caught up in getting to class to turn in the paper. I got there and when the professor saw my finger, which now was swollen and turning black and blue, she sent me straight to the Health Center.
Are we looking at those around us who are hurting and maybe are black and blue inside and need someone to just see them and their needs?
Insight for today: Be in the moment with the people around to see what is truly going on and be the person who cares!
