Finding joy in the waiting!
When I was little my family lived in Dallas, Texas while my father went to Dallas Bible College. My grandparents lived in Wisconsin, which meant we didn't get to see them very often but they always remembered each of us kids' birthdays. I remember no matter whose birthday it was we would all wait for the mailman to deliver something from Grandma and Grandpa. We actually would sit on the curb sometimes waiting for the mailman. The reason we would anticipate this delivery was that Grandma and Grandpa not only sent the birthday person something, but each one of us kids received something little from them.
There was joy in the waiting because we would wait together!
I would like to say as a family we still do this kind of thing but we can't as we all live far apart now. I do have a church family that helps me find joy every day in waiting for what God has next for me.
They have surrounded me with so much love this week as I struggle through feeling the weight of losing my mom a year ago. I look forward to the day that I will see her again in heaven and she will no longer have any physical illnesses or struggles and I long for the time when I get to see my whole family together again.
Insight for today: Try to find joy in those around me as we all wait together for what God has next for us!
