In Memory of Mom!

It’s been a little over a month since I started writing this blog. I must admit it has been hard to be so vulnerable and share so many things I am learning about myself, but it has been a great incentive to continue the journey of gaining insight everyday.  Today is all about my mom. I miss her so much!

Tomorrow is one year since I lost my mother.  She is no longer in pain, sick or having to deal with the terrible dementia that had consumed her mind for the last several years of her life.  I imagine her being the way she was when I was young, so beautiful, and one of the smartest, wisest women in my life.

Mom loved to cook for her family and anyone else that us kids would bring to the house.  She made holidays so special with her homemade cinnamon twists and crescent rolls and so many other delicious treats.  One year she made all of us kids a cookbook full of some of her favorite recipes and ours along with some little words of wisdom on the pages.  What a treasure to have this!

She married my dad when she was 18 years old and they were married 65 years before she passed.  One of the treasures in my life was watching their love story.  I watched how they supported each other through some difficult times, sicknesses and raising the wild bunch of 6 kids.

Insight for today: To rest in the fact that my mom is in heaven waiting for us to join her!

I love you, Mom and I miss you so much!  Thank you for being such a wonderful godly example of a wife and mother!
