Running on Empty!
After I graduated college I went on a road trip with a dear friend across the country. We lived in the Chicago area and drove to Colorado for my brother’s wedding and then through Utah, Arizona and New Mexico before returning home.
My friend and I had an unexpected stop in Utah when we ran out of gas just as we pulled into a gas station. Back then not all gas stations stayed open 24 hours a day. The gas station was closed, so we had no choice but to get a hotel room for the night and wait for the morning to fill up and continue on our journey.
Ever since that moment I have never wanted to let the gas tank get that low, so when I hit about a quarter of a tank, I stop to fill up.
Running on Empty isn’t a great place to be!
This makes me think of how I just keep going even when my emotional, physical and spiritual tanks are getting low and close to being empty. This last year has been hard for all of us and I hope I can realize the need to make sure I don’t run on empty.
Insight for today: Learn what it looks like when my emotional, physical and spiritual tanks are showing the signs of getting low.
