That’s What Love Brings, Safety!
I remember when my kids were little and they had a bad dream and couldn’t sleep they would come into our room and whisper, “Mommy, I had a bad dream and want to snuggle so they could feel safe.” Snuggles are the best! Nothing as comforting as the arms of a parent, spouse or a dear friend to make you feel safe.
Last year as I traveled home after seeing my mother for the last time, I desperately just wanted a hug and shoulder to cry on. After landing back in New York and walking out of the airport I walked straight into the arms of my husband and I bursted out crying. I wonder why I didn’t lose it all day long as I was traveling. I realize it was because I wanted to feel safe.
That’s what love brings, safety!
“Jesus talked to His friends a lot about how we should identify ourselves. He said it wouldn’t be what we said we believed or the good we hoped to do someday. Nope, He said we would identify ourselves simply by how we loved people. It’s tempting to think there is more to it, but there’s not. Love isn’t something we fall into; love is some one we become.” Bob Goff in Everybody Always
Insight for today: Let love be the some one I become more and more every day!
