Imperfections!

My husband bought me a walking stick many years ago and as I look at that piece of wood today, I see the knots and imperfections that were in the tree that was used to make this now smooth, shiny, beautiful walking stick.  I looked up why trees get knots and as a tree grows taller or older, branches die off and are subsumed by the increasing girth of the trunk, leaving this imperfection we call a knot.

I remember the many times I used that stick to hike up a hill and used it as a source of strength to make the journey easier.  With its imperfections highlighted and adding to its beauty.

Imperfections, scars and wounds from the past can add to our beauty, because we can learn and help others from the lessons we learned from  these imperfections. Walking along someone else who is going through something we have been through is one the ways these imperfections are made more beautiful.

Insight for today: Don’t be afraid to see the imperfections and the journey!
